Turned up at the Union yesterday at about 5:08, was told the whole place was booked out and there was not space, the session that was actually booked was for 7:00-9:00, not 5:00.
It said 5:00 on the calendar, so I cycled 2 miles to get told to go home, Foz also dragged his exam wearied ass over to the union too and had to go home.
I went down to the union last friday and asked the porter who said the times were 5-7 everyday monday to friday. This seems to have been incorrect, so I will go check with them again today. Sorry for your troubles, but also bear in mind:
"We have a large conference booked for 11 days of September, this may have an impact on your 5pm start time but at the moment I do not know about this as they have not confirmed the time slots for certain rooms." I'll be sure to ask about this as well.
Sorry to have complained, it looks like there really was no way of getting accurate information about the times, I foolishly assumed there would have been. My experiences with room bookings in the past should have shown me different! They are well useless! There have been times when it's has been the calendar maintainers fault, and I'm one of the people who travels the furthest to get there, so I blamed you unfairly and let it rile me a bit when I shouldn't. Soz again.
Getting booking times out of the union over the past three years has become more and more like getting blood from a stone. Think the best way is just to make sure someone checks as with the porters or sabbatical officers as often as possible. They used to put up a timetable on the wall of the union offices before it got put up online or went to the porters, but no idea if they still do.
I talked to the Porter's and they don't yet know the times for next week. Margaret is back on Monday however, so we should be able to find out then.
I would presume that we will have the same times (5-7 mon, tue, thur, fri, sat) and 7-9 on wed until term starts, but don't count on it until I can confirm with the union!
