I haven't told the people in the lessons yet. But I was thinking, once we tell them (this Sunday?) and hopefully get a few of them onboard, we could use the routines that Izaak and Will taught them? So they would know what they are doing already, just need to clean it up and add maybe a few more sets in/harder sets for those that can.
Would be good to have a theme/ story, since that's what we've done for the last four years and it's worked out really well. My vote's on Pirates vs Ninjas :-P (only half joking)
Everyone seems in favor of Enter the Dragon, so we need to split it up into ~4 scenes totaling 6mins of showcase! Ideas for scenes->music->get it mixed->choreography->practice We have just 5 weeks until the showcase so let's try and get the planning bit done quick!
How about people who're interested in doing choreo come round to my flat some time this weekend and watch Enter the Dragon, then we can come up with some ideas. Are the committee all back from holidays now? Also we should probably talk to Izaak since he did an oriental themed breaking showcase a few years ago.
Showcase meeting at my place (since I can't hobble anywhere; 3 Alma Court on Alma Vale Rd) 5PM today. Gonna watch Enter the Dragon and come up with ideas. If you can make it come along, would be great to have as much input as possible!
Here's Izaak & Will's show from a few years ago (NO BITING, just to get an idea of what's possible with this kind of theme):
OK guys, next rehearsal will be tomorrow in the Anson Rooms 5-7PM. Main thing we need to focus on is choreographing for the Power Section and the End, but hopefully we'll also have time to practice the Beginners' section and 1on1s.
